Transfer
F-1 or J-1 students may transfer schools before or after completion of a program. Students must maintain status at all times for transfer to be complete.
Transferring to Virginia Tech
Process:
- Acceptance to Virginia Tech
- Submit Financial Documents
- Submit SEVIS Transfer Form. The form must be completed by you and your international student advisor/foreign student advisor at current school.
- Current school releases SEVIS record electronically to Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University Extended Campus Sites WAS214F01228003 for F1
- Virginia Tech will issue a transfer pending I20/DS2019
- A completed transfer will be processed after reporting to Virginia Tech
Please note that you MAY NOT work at Virginia Tech until you have completed the transfer and been issued a new form indicating the completion of transfer (="Continued attendance" on the first page, "transfer completed" notation on the second page)
Transferring from Virginia Tech
Process:
- Acceptance by another school
- Submit Transfer Out Form to Virginia Tech
- Virginia Tech releases SEVIS record to new school pending eligibility
- New school issues an I20/DS2019
