Our Success
Since 1937 the Urban Affairs and Planning program has endeavored to educate future planners and policy analysts and to apply faculty expertise in related research and outreach. To achieve success in such an endeavor means that those students, alumni, faculty, staff and associates engaged the program’s lessons and have gone on to improve the world and themselves. And there has indeed been success. Evidence of this is found herein, and through the experiences of our graduates in molding themselves and the world, and in the increasing need for forward thinkers, planners, by society. As such, this program has expanded across time – for 50 years, and space – our program is now offered in both Blacksburg and Alexandria, Virginia.
On this page the reader will find narratives of our success, encapsulated in images or documented in student and alumni feedback.
Success, however, does not come without challenge. The UAP program’s success has also relied on its ability to improve based on critical input. This is why this page comes with its necessary compliment, Our Challenge, where students and alumni provide commentary on the aspects of the program that require change.
