UAP Alumni Association - National Capital Region
What is the UAP Alumni Association?
UAPAA is an organization of alumni and friends of Virginia Tech’s Urban Affairs and Planning Program from the Alexandria and Blacksburg campuses who reside or work in the National Capital Region. Graduates who move away from the Washington area also can remain involved in the association.
The UAPAA will strengthen and enrich the UAP program by being a resource of professionals who want to see the program improve and grow. The association also will be a resource for students and other graduates.
UAPAA goals:
- Improve connections between alumni and the UAP program
- Linking graduates from the Alexandria and Blacksburg programs
- Hold social and educational events
- Strengthen the UAP program by offering an alumni perspective on curriculum and admissions
- Provide mentoring to students and graduates
- Help graduates stay in contact with one another
- Foster pride in the Virginia Tech UAP program
- Promote a sense of belonging and loyalty to this community of people
- Advance the field of planning as a vital profession and important public service
- Give back to the program by funding an annual scholarship for deserving UAP students
UAPAA Founding Board
In the coming months, UAPAA will create a board to refine the goals of the association, create a web site and inaugural newsletter, and solicit membership, support and interest in events from the larger UAP community in this area.
