A Suburban World? Global Decentralization and the New Metropolis International Conference at the Sheraton Reston Hotel, Reston, Virginia. Virginia Tech and the Metropolitan Institute co-sponsor the event. "We have entered a new era where the areas outside core cities are forming different settlement systems. As urban form changes, new research and policy have to be crafted to meet the challenges of sprawl, congestion and affordable housing. This conference will take a look at the new metropolis in the context of global decentralization."
